posted the other week as part of an ongoing fundraiser offering free prints and paid, with 100% of proceeds going to Care for Gaza.Ā it has since been translated, wheatpasted, and flown on kites all over the world from Saigon to Scotlandā¦!!!
monetary donations are never a substitute for holistic political action, and a push for a different world⦠but the shows of solidarity and support have lifted my spirits so much.
this is now available on a t-shirt too, screenprinted by hand in Texas!same deal: all profits go to food, medicine, and other critical supplies via Care for Gaza (& the PCRF). thank you for sharing.

i feel the need to reiterate that “hamas” also happens to be a regular arabic word that means “fervour”, “excitement” or “passion” because i feel like in some time we’ll start seeing arabs being “called out” because someone heard them speak the word
Some people have already said this in the tags but it can’t be repeated enough:
This is the same as with “Allahu Akbar” which can be translated as “God is the greatest” (and before someone “calls me out” on it, Allah is just “god” in arabic so stfu)
This is also the same as with “Jihad”, which can be “struggling”, “striving” or similar words with the connotation of “exertion”
This is ALSO the same as with Al-quds or simply quds, being Jerusalem’s name in arabic.
And I’m sure there are even more out there that will be weaponized by Islamophobes and racists all around the globe.

smith and jones featuring a blood sucking alien who fed off humans vs ten spending the season feeding off marthaās kindness and humanity to the point she breaks šµāš«šµ
LITERALLY!! Iām going to ramble if its ok.
Itās so fascinating how itās foreshadowed and thought out, intentionally or not. Iāve gone over Martha being the moon and her being used as security for Ten, but also itās some mega vampire imagery. He only comes out (to Martha) at night, in every way possible. He is immortal and doesnāt sleep. But he grows through her and learns humanity by draining her of all of it and reversing the companion dynamics by making her āthe Doctorā.
They walk out onto the balcony in pitch black, on the moon, with humanity acting as the thing between them. The moral and the immoral, selfless and the selfish, the sacrifice and the knife. They are mirrors of each other, both doctors, both lost someone in the Battle of Canary Wharf, both are brave and sacrificial in nature. Her side in light, his side in dark. Black and white.
Interesting, Marthaās display of humanity and honouring the dead comes in the form of closing the eyes of her supervisor, Mr Stoker, which is a reference to Bram Stoker, the author of Dracula. It helps show that the plasmavore much like the Doctor, lack humanity, and he didnāt even think to do this. He wanted to immediately leave.
The plasmavore/actual vampire, Miss Finnegan, and the Doctor also have a parallel between them, both being at Royal Hope Hospital because of the death of a blonde. Miss Finnegan actually killed a blonde alien princess and thatās why sheās on the run where as Ten is in the hospital to try and 'auditionā a new companion because of the 'deathā of Rose (she is perfectly safe in Peteās world, but in the OG world, she was on the list of the dead and Captain Jack thought she actually died).
Under the moon light, the cover of darkness, he picks his companion/victim. He draws her in with a sultry gaze, turning around her to follow just as her brotherās 21st birthday falls apart. Itās quite funny actually, how he just comes and swoops in on her like this. It also raises the question of how did he know where she was? How did he know just when to meet her, how long has be been waiting etc. Also, another question, how the hell did he know where she walked to walk? Major vampire predator Ten.
General vampire imagery here, in certain lore vampires can only sleep in a coffin with soil of their homeland, which obviously the Doctor doesnāt have, so he cannot be laid to rest. He cannot die, he cannot sleep, he is always awake and aware of himself and what he has lost.
After Rose, heās lost everything. He begs for death, in this episode I think he begs for dead 3 times which is sooooo very healthy, because we all beg the space mafia that killed all of your species for your death. Totally.
This really puts into perspective how Martha is the only thing keeping him from crashing the TARDIS into a black hole or something else, but also shows us the curse of immortality, and the cycle he is about to undergo. He, like a vampire, reveals himself in the dark, but heās already physically revealed himself, so now we see his emotional reveal. He wants to die, which is unlike most vampires, as they feed on humans to live. Ten will feed on Marthaās humanity and learn to live.
If you view the pre-official companion Martha lens, he doesnāt know what he wants to do. Does he continue the cycle or does he die? He wants to push Martha away, he wants to be alone yet he craves her. Letās not forget, it was Ten who kept making the āone more tripā excuse.
The whole Lazarus Experiment plot is old man Lazarus whoās scared to die so he turns himself into a monster (accidently) that feeds off of young women to keep his youth. Vampires are a biggie for drinking blood to remain and look youthful, I think Dracula does that, like a switch of youth and life from victim to vampire.
Ten and Lazarus are mirror characters for their immortality but folds in the way they view it. Lazarus has the attitude of losing everyone and killing his victims is a āprice worth payingā, and Ten views it as a curse more than anything, keep this in mind. Both of these two use people to give them humanity, Laz gets their life and Ten takes their human qualities to compensate for his lack of them. Itās only natural for their final and most poignant encounter to happen in a church, a place believed to hold the word of spiritual immortality. These two are surrounded in the set dressed with immortality and devotion and are allowed to discuss the issues of it. Then Martha, the beacon of the good of humanity steps in and they put an end to Lazarus.
Here we get confirmation that Ten has already started to take Marthaās humanity. In the 6 episodes weāve seen them in so far, he recalled a small gesture she did, he gave his respects to a man who feared death and faced it. This also adds to the theme of āYou Are Not Aloneā as another person who could understand what he feels is gone, and he feels alone again.
Sorry to jumpscare you all with The Family of Blood but I feel like it adds to the vampire theme of here is Martha, 2 months of her life completely spent being viewed as less than by John Smith, human version of the Doctor. The Family of Blood rather than wanting to feed on humans, like Miss Finnegan and Lazarus, wants to feed on the Doctor for his immortality. We see in this two parter why he needs humanity because itās revealed how not-human he is. No matter how he looks, he is very distinctly not human.
Although it wasnāt at all his fault that they ended up in 1913, Marthaās humanity is stripped not only by him but the people around her in the racist culture she is stranded in.
In the darkness, The Doctor is revealed to John Smith.
Now the actual Doctor is back again. Remember when I said he clearly views immortality as a curse? Now, like a vampire, he gives it to the family in the most disturbing, macabre way possible.
This getting WAYYYY too long and I apologise to you stewy for writing a whole ass novel in the reblogs but this really inspired me and I thought Iād share.
